Barbara A. Levine is a painter based in New England. She paints in the woods, marshes,  dunes, at the sea, and in the snow. Her snow scenes, a unique characteristic of this part of the country, celebrate the exquisite reflected light  one finds after a winter storm.

Barbara has also traveled and painted on location in Europe and Central and South America.

Barbara is an artist member of the North Shore Arts Association, the Concord Art Association, and the Rockport Art Association. She has also long been an active member of Natick Open Studios.

She has exhibited in numerous group shows and has entered competitions around New England winning awards for her painting from Rockport Art Association. In addition she has had a number of solo exhibitions.

Her work is currently in the Renjeau Gallery in Natick, MA and can be seen through Gallery 55 in Natick. A number of her paintings are part of the permanent collection purchased by Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston and UMASS Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA.

Barbara Explains that, “What has drawn me over the years to want to paint is the pleasure and excitement of seeing subtle changes in color or value which help to elucidate forms, show relative distance, or patterns of light."

While painting on location I am often presented with other wonderful surprises the natural environment has to offer, a serendipity or gift which I often add to my painting.

I often feel an interaction between me, as the painter, and the scene I am painting that is primary to inspire me for that painting. It is a kind of relational intimacy I find so engaging, interesting and centering."
